About us
A response built by the people it serves.
Women-led. Nationally registered. Rooted in the communities we serve across South Sudan.
Our story
Founded by professionals and survivors of conflict.
Women's Organisation for Resilience and Development (WORD) is a women-led national NGO dedicated to empowering women and girls to become resilient through the integration of multi-sectoral humanitarian intervention across South Sudan.
WORD operates in complex emergency and recovery settings, with a strong focus on food security and livelihood, shelter and non-food items, education, WASH, protection and gender-based violence, health, nutrition, and peace building.
WORD works in collaboration with national, state and county-level authorities, community leaders, religious leaders, NGO partners and donors, to ensure effective accountability and transparency to our donors and the communities we serve.
Registered by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) on 1 April 2026 under registration number 6338, WORD believes that resilient women and girls are the foundation for transforming community development.
